This article describes a minimally invasive six-pin technique using an external stabilization system (JESS) for proximal humerus fractures.
Surgical Technique: Fracture reduction is first performed. The first two pins are bicipital groove pins, inserted from the greater tuberosity into the medullary cavity. The next two pins are calcar screws, used to stabilize the humeral head fragment to the humeral shaft. The final two pins are neck-shaft pins, used to securely fix the humeral head to the humeral shaft.
