Advantages- Pins are out of the way of abdominal procedures- Two pins are sufficient - Fixation is excellent- Allows for direction of closure of open book injury in -same plane- Biomechanically superior in resisting rotational forces compared to iliac crest pins Disadvantages- More dependent on fluoro- Longer operative time
